Live 9 News: Whats Awesome

Post by ze2be » Sat Oct 27, 2012 1:22 pm

1. Recording Automation into Clips!
- Finally!!!!!!!!!!!! This is huge. Most requested future of all time!?
I was afraid we wouldnt see this before Live 10. But here we go.

2. Updated Master Effects
- Awesome! I love Fab Filter mix/master plugs for their
functionality. Now we get it too! I use EQ8, Limiter, Compressor
and Gate on every channel, so this is huge for me. Normally id
use 3rd party plugs only where details is needed, to save up on
cpu and ram load. Geting less dependent on 3rd parties is great.

3. The Browser
- I know this has been requested by many users around here, and
functionality is always wellcome, so cheers for this!! Its going to
improve workflow speed, and thats what Live is all about.

4. Library
- Personally im super happy to get some of the clasical instruments
now included in Suite. I think a lot of Suite owners felt other DAWs
included a lot more content at this level. Now we get it too!

5. Converting Audio to Midi!
- This is super awesome, and has been requested, but some of us
did not think they would do it. Thumbs up for this one!!

Nice points, to me Push and the included M4L which is based on Max 6 are the most interesting things.

Push! It seems to be a highly playable instrument, physically. I have an EWI and for playing rhythmic parts Push look like a very good complement. Great data controller as well.

For me the most important news is 64 bit max coming very soon
DAWS: Live 11 Suite + PUSH2, Studio One, Bitwig and Reason all via an X32 desk: Instruments: modular and analogue stuff, guitars, basses and drums.

Converting Audio to Midi!
This only one did it for me, I'm on for upgrading to Live 9 suite.
I always ever sing, siffle on loops to catch some ideas... This will save me plenty of time for sure.

I have to admit Push is also very attractive

-CURVES & record automation in session off course

All depends on the final upgrading price...

:D MfL bundled (and based on Max 6) This was the BIG pull for me ... been wanting to explore this for ages.

Session automation too.

But the inclusion of all the boxed content in the Live 9 Suite edition was a nice bonus - didn't realise this when I upgraded.

Yeehaw!

personally the fact that there was no curved automation and that there was no graphic eq combined with a spectrum analyzer were the only two things i ever really disliked about Live and now were getting both which is great.

No 1 is great! This is a very useful improvement & something that has been requested for ....ever :)

The midi editing improvements look very handy also.

Overall, I think the little things will add up to a faster work flow. :)

Lots of things for me :D

Including:

The drum to midi function, the mid editor functions,in general, the glue compressor, midi clip automation, the browser

When Live 9 is released I expect to see an improved work flow too.

But Im a relative newcomer to Live so discovering, lots of things at the momement,my work flow has improved for sure,he,he

Just like the whole idea of getting ideas down fast, without too much fuss, and time spent routing etc.

Especially the side chain stuff, that use to take me a while in my other D.A.W,not now :D

Here's to the first quarter of 2013! :D

Reason? I never got the hang of routing in Reason. The back of it looks like a plate of spaghetti!

Very true buddy :D

But you can hide the spaghetti,by hitting K on your keyboard (not sure for a Mac though, lol)

Sometimes you can easily be disappointed, with routing stuff and you don't get the sound or effect you want

With Live is so much easier :D

The nicest feature in live 9 for me was the error on the new ableton website
I saved some really good money on the upgrade by clicking in the right moment!
And I wasn’t even planning to be online that night –I was playing with my daughter but then
A friend sent me an sms and…bam!

Seriously tho
1) Recording automation in session
2) Audio to midi
3) The newly made effects, I hope they’ll live up to my expectations.
