Ableton Live : same track on several columns
Ableton Live : same track on several columns
Hi all,
I work on Live session mode with an APC40.
I'd like to have the same track on 2 columns (or more) to have more clips available on my controler for the same track (I have only 5, i want 10 or 15).
Is there a way to do that? or to manage the exclusivity of clips from different tracks?
That's to produce DnB-breakcore music in live.
Thank you.

Not exactly.. hard to explain.
I want that one track continue on several columns (with differents clips). When I start a clip from one column, it stops the played clip from the other column.
I tried to remap all clips, but the midi mapping doesn't follow when I move the pad with "bank select" on te APC.

Re: Ableton Live : same track on several columns
I'm confused on what you mean by columns.
In Live only 1 clip can be launched at a time, per Track.
Launching scenes will launch multiple rows of tracks.
If you want to launch by scenes, but you want clips to continuously play from previous launched scene, you need to right click "Remove Clip Stop Button" on the empty clip slots.
When you remove the clip stop button from blank clip slots, scene launch has no effect on them.
I am guessing this is what you mean, but maybe I am way off.
maybe Group Tracks?

I've done similar before with Clyphx if I'm getting you right. You could either have an instruction on each clip to stop clips on other tracks, so if you had 8 tracks of the same thing, on track 5 your clips you'd have something like "[] 1-4/Stop ; 6-8/stop"; 1-4 & 6-8 are the tracks you want the clips to stop on.

Yep shadx312, that's exactly what I mean !shadx312 wrote:You could either have an instruction on each clip to stop clips on other tracks
I dont understand, where can I enter "[] 1-4/Stop ; 6-8/stop" ?shadx312 wrote: on track 5 your clips you'd have something like "[] 1-4/Stop ; 6-8/stop"

on the clips (cmd/ctrl-r to rename), OR using X-controls, which is a textfile in the Clyphx remote script folder where you set clyphx instructions with your midi controls (notes or cc's). You have to download Clyphx first.

You can get all the info you need in the manual.
Manuals are fucking cool.

Re: Ableton Live : same track on several columns
Ok, I've installed ClyphX and it works but not exactly as Im looking for.
I have to click 2 times on "Play clip" button for the action starts.
Is there a way to have both actions "play clip + [] 1-4/Stop ; 6-8/stop" on the same time?

Re: Ableton Live : same track on several columns
Hm, they should work at the same time. It might have to do with clip quantization, as in, the action isn't going to take effect until it actually starts playing, not when you launch it.
You should post your problem at the clyphx forums for more support. But try setting the clip quantization to none in the clip properties and see if it works right away.

Re: Ableton Live : same track on several columns
I tried to set clip quantization to none but it's still the same !
I tried activate or desactiate several options, quantization, launchmodes... but there are no effect.
I 've post the problem on ClyphX forum. Still waiting.

Re: Ableton Live : same track on several columns
weird, the only problem I had was when the clip was in Gate mode, otherwise I dunno.
BUT, you can consolidate some of those clip actions if your clip isn't between tracks you want to stop.
Like track 4 can be:
[] 5-6/stop
track 6:
[] 4-5/stop

Re: Ableton Live : same track on several columns
I had the answer from Stray (ClyphX creator...)
I sent him an example and everything should be right. It seems to come from my Live version (I use the 8.2)
I must update it, it's the only way...
