most of the music that has 8O me away that i heard this year i'm  to say was already several years old... i think it's a sign that this grey hair is more than just "dashing"...

anyway, i'll list a few albums that were discoveries for me, but hardly new...

1. Portugal. The Man - The Satanic Satanist
2. Portugal. The Man - American Ghetto
3. Pretty Lights - Filling Up The City Skies (double release)

care to share some gold nuggets from your mind's eye and/or playlists?

Theyre so great in pretty much every respect I hate myself. And they use Abes! Havnt listened to pretty much anything else for the past couple months. Theyre just a breath of fresh air, cant wait to see what they do in the future. Bought the album a couple weeks ago. Pity they prob wont come to Dublin for a long while...

Ladytron-Gravity the Seducer. OK maybe all my suggestions came out in 2011 but I just found them in 2012.
Emilie Autumn-Fight like a Girl

of Montreal-Paralytic Stalks
Santigold-Master of my Make Believe
Shiny Toy Guns- III
The Used-Vulnerable
Tomahawk-Oddfellows(Not out yet, lol) I'm waiting. Mike Patton is pretty much my hero, not to mention the coolest dude on the planet!

Gigamesh!!

Usually listen to breaks and punk rock...more intense stuff. Gigamesh is a cool mix of disco/funk/80s. Excellent productions as well. Even pulls off a nice remix of "groove is in the heart" by deelite. Funky not cheesy.

Also like how guys like him let you dl remixes and whatnot of soundcloud for free.

One of my favourite group (well track really) discoveries this year was the Todd Rundgren Remix of 'Elephant' by Tame Impala

I have just in the last few minutes fallen in love with a new artist I found named Gavlyn from what I can tell shes a rapper from LA. I found TokiMonsta late last year or the early part of this year. I found a K pop girl band called 4minute I have been enjoying and a few others that I cannot think of right now. Overall I am enjoying a lot of new music but I am finding so much that I have a hard time remembering many of the artists.

- Band: Django Django

loving the layered vocal harmonies

- Producer: Kangding Ray

i don't know any other producer who knows how to create such intense tension between digital cold and analogue warmth. at least thats what it feels like to me, whether or not it reflects his actual production style. being an architect myself i also appreciate some of his art works. I'd say that's my major discovery 2012.

- Experimental: Me And My Drummer

studid name, but this Berlin based duo definitely has a unique sound based on keys, drums (you guessed it) and a beautyful expressive female voice. u like Feist? try this.

- Bad Bad Bass: Substep Infrabass

actually i am not entirely digging the tunes but the sound spectrum of dubstep combined with death/black metal totally kicks ass. i hope this is going to become a sub genre.
