Any idea why this is happening? I'm using a Fiio E17 amp on Win 7, thanks.

Cant really help but I did have this problem before a hard drive crash forced me to reformat and start from scratch 6 months ago. Now my various asio drivers (including ASIO4ALL) work pretty much as intended and I can get music software and other sources outputting. It can still be a bit flakey at times though. I know it will be a standard reply but can only imagine my issues were driver related and there must have been some conflict with the sound card pre HDD crash. Maybe check that?

Go to Control Panel>Sound and make sure your Default Playback Device is the correct one. Windows will use it for all its sound output, and you should hear everything as you want.

asio takes over, it only allows asio to be the driver at any given time

3 solutions:

-set Live to MME (or your usual default driver, when not needing asio)

-switch off live's sound engine when you want to hear some other source (this is what i do, hate mme, just click the cpu meter to kill engine)

-there is an add on bridge for asio that someone posted a while back, i think it was $30, allows for multiple asio i/o
