Must have Mac programs?

Post by Trypset » Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:20 pm

Just got a 27" iMac...

Never had a mac

On live 8

Friend installed soundflower.

Any cool programs or tricks that would help me?

midiStroke

"midiStroke converts midi note, program or CC messages into keystrokes (keyboard shortcuts). Any single midi message can trigger as many keystrokes as you like, in order. As one example, you could use one note on message to select all, copy, move to the right, paste, move right and paste again."

I have buttons on a Faderfox LX1 assigned to a number of Live's various view options such as Track/Clip View; toggle Full Screen; show/hide: browser, overview, mixer, returns, etc.

Invaluable & free!

+1 Generally very flexible tool for non-MIDI controllers.
+1 Use these two every day. Very useful.

For system stuff, I use http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/ which can also replace the OS X time/date with a much better one.
