any benefits of PC over Mac?
any benefits of PC over Mac?
In terms of music production, would a PC allow me to do anything I couldn't do on a mac? Say, because of customizable ports or something?
I'm on an iMac and I have a nice looking atx case I bought in highschool that I'm thinking about building with. Either that or I'll just stick with mac forever.

Don't feed the troll.

lmao, this was an honest thought. damn, that term is thrown around all too easily these days.

If you're going for a pc, I'd rather buy a new cabinet. I asked a similar question and d.reamonn answered me the same. If he (you d.reamonn) actually had some insight he would have answered with a similarly short answer including his opinion or a link to a thread discussing it instead of trying to murder the thread.
In general pc's are more customizable so I wouldn't be surprised if you could do more with a pc, but I honestly don't know what. I do know some plugins are not developed for mac's though. And it seems to be consensus among mac-people that mac's are more stable. I went from a pc-laptop to a macbook pro and have been very happy with that, but now I'm considering getting a pc-workstation to accompany the macbook pro.
Anyway, good luck whatever you decide!

Thanks guy. Yeah, I've definitely noticed the stability difference. I originally was using FL on an old HP but it had hard drive failure or something.vido wrote:If you're going for a pc, I'd rather buy a new cabinet. Probably gonna skip the pc build and save my money for things I need more. Good luck with what you're doing too.

Performance. Todays Windows OS handles DAW more efficiently than Mac.

Re: any benefits of PC over Mac?
PCs are better for music because they have right clicks and audio APIs and because Bill Gates. Steve Jobs had less hair but now he is dead, and so Macs can't do advanced stuff like MIDI and effects.
I hated Steve Jobs before it was cool and I prends dans le boule.
Note 'prendre' takes an 's' in the first person.
Simmerdown once had a conversation with a cat, but the cat won.

you will find more than one benefit
Re: any benefits of PC over Mac?
the only advantage of Mac over PC I noticed is if you launch Live, then plug your USB keyboard, or your interface, it will work. On a PC, you will have to quit Live then reopen for it to use the Midi device or the audio interface. Pretty annoying...
For the rest of course there is right click on a Mac, on a laptop 2 fingers click.
Mac->IAC bus = PC->Midi Yoke
Mac->CoreAudio = PC->Asio
