Hi,
Wanted to have some fun with christmas carol midi files. Just got a used microkorg. Set up the midi clips in tracks, and then used an external instrument plugin to send the midi to the MK then back into an open audio track. Weird thing happens everytime I launch a clip on live though— it changes the patch I'm using on the microkorg. Anybody have any idea what's going on here? Is there a setting on the Microkorg I need to change regarding it receiving midi?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
nevermind. figured it out

Re: Live is changing Microkorg's patch each time I launch clip
make sure that the clip doesn't have program change information in it.
double click on the clip that is changing the patch.
look at the "notes" box on the left side of the clip.
make sure that the bank, sub bank, and program fields all say none.
let me know if that works.

Yep, that was the problem. However, all my clips were defaulting to have program changes within it... I need to figure out how to prevent the microkorg from receiving program changes messages in it itself....

Re: delete post...
it shouldn't default to that.
are you also using your microkorg as a controller? it is possible that it is sending program change messages that get recorded into the clips. in that case, perhaps it is possible to disable the microkorg from sending program change information. i don't own a microkorg, but some synths send program change information when you change a preset.

Re: delete post...
It was actually midi files that I dropped into the set... just some christmas carol midi files I was messing with...maybe it had something to do with my microkorg sending a program change though...

ah, ok. yes, was prob in those files. likely they were designed for a multi timbral general midi device.
easy to fix though, select all of the midi clips and then change the program change to none. if you have them all selected it will change all of them at once.
