My Laptop keeps Crashing (Memory Dump)

Hello,

Having recently purchased a Novation Impulse & a Scarllet 2i2 audio interface.
I installed the Ableton 8 lite which came free.
The problem i have is that when i load a VST and i'm playing using the Impulse everything is fine.
The CPU load in the corner is very low etc, but then all of a sudden the laptop crashes!
It goes to a blue screen and says loads of stuff, something about Memory Dump???
This happens EVERYTIME!

My laptop is a Samsung RF511
intel core i5 processer
8GB Ram
750gb HD
Windows7 64bit

I have the Scarlett set up as the only audio device.

Does anyone know what the problem is??

Not sure but it could be a page file issue. If you have no page file or it's very low, when the RAM use gets to be too much it doesn't have any virtual ram (on the hard drive) to use as backup... leading to a memory dump?

Again, I'm really not sure, but I would check to see that your page file is set up properly.

Hope this helps -- I'd be interested to know what's doing this.

Chris

Hi,
What VST are you using? Can you try installing a free VST such as Synth1 to see if the issue is replicated?

Can you try without the audio interface, to see if it an issue with this?

When the memory dump appears, is there a STOP code that accompanies it? Something like 0x0000007b? this might tell you where the issue lies.

Cheers

You need the program bluescreenview discussed here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/6292/how ... -of-death/ this will show what's crashing the os.

it works in all windows machines.

Thanks for the info guys.

I've installed BluescreenView and it says the ntoskrnl.exe and stdriver64 drivers are causing the crash.

Just need to find out how to resolve that and test it again. :?

That's your Realtek driver, which will be your onboard soundcard.

Try disabling that device in device manager, and update your audio interface drivers too!

Ok so now i have a slighty different problem.
I've resolved the issue with the BSOD crash.

Now i've switched to using a Allen & Heath xone 3D as the audio interface which works fine.
But now my Impulse controller won't work????? :?
The Automap doesn't work and on the Automap server the controller isn't listed???

Confused.com

Could there be a driver conflict?
