Can't Hear my MPK25 within LiveLIte 8

Post by brianjonesproject » Thu Jan 03, 2013 1:25 am

I recently purchased an MPK25 and have it all hooked up, I can even see the lights when I hit a pad or key so I know it is recognized and mostly configured properly, I just can't HEAR anything at all. I can record guitar (using a Carlett Focusrite external sound card on my MAC) and that works fine and plays back through LiveLite... just no sound out of the MPK25... I even listened to all the setup videos on UTube and from Abelton... what am I missing?? Thanks for helping out a newbie....

The MPK25 does not produce any sound on its own, is that what you are expecting?

You use the MPK to control things in Ableton.

You can use it to play instruments like vst's or the selection of Live Instruments (in either case you make sure to arm the midi channel so that it is 'listening' for you to press things).

You can use it to trigger clips in the session view. This requires for you to go into midi map mode and assign clips to pads.

And you can use the controller to change parameters in Live. Like effects, levels, sends etc.

Best of luck! You'll learn many things and your mind will be blown.

Don't hesitate to ask for more information on here if you're lost.
