Using white noise to improve dynamics
Using white noise to improve dynamics
Does anyone here do this ? I'd like to find out more information if possible.
I've added some white noise to my track - and applied sidechain compression, but am not sure if I've missed anything out.
thanks

I dont, but Airbase does, its on his Myloops Ableton template.ljd2002 wrote:Does anyone here do this ? I'd like to find out more information if possible.

Ok thanks will check it out.
Re: Using white noise to improve dynamics
white noise is good layered on snares also.
Re: Using white noise to improve dynamics
interesting - I guess the trick is to make the white noise sound only when the sound of the snare is 'playing' though.
Maybe thats where the SideChain compression comes in...

Re: Using white noise to improve dynamics
This would be a sidechain gate, not a compressor.
Re: Using white noise to improve dynamics
cool - will check that out as well.

Hehe, when I think about all the money and effort that goes into our gear and tools to help us keep noise out, and these days everyone just adds it back in anyway!

Or you could just throw a sample of white noise in with the sample of your snare. I guess you wouldn't have the slight variation that way tho.

Along with many other plugs and techniques to emulate poor quality gear or less than ideal recording situations.
