What gear to pick for production and Dj'in

Post by kqb09168 » Thu Jan 31, 2013 8:11 pm

Hi guys,

Been using traktor for years and now switching to Live 8 because I got sick of the limited possibilities of traktor.
Loving Ableton so far but when it comes to picking hardware I've got a dilemma.
SInce I travel often I bought a Traktor S4 + F1 because it's portable and did what I wanted at the time.
Now that I'm slowly understanding Live I'd like to sell my current gear to buy an ableton controller that allows me to dj but also to work on production when I'm not doing a gig.

The push looks like a beauty but how do you feel about using it to dj (I'm use to tweak knobs and faders ;))
The APC's are awesome but the push with live 9 looks better for production

So please help me to decide what gear to get !!!

(budget around 400 pounds)

Thanks Funken,

That looks like a pretty sweet set up for what I'd like to do. DO you think it's worth buying a used apc 40 to save cash or something quite risky to do ?

Also what about APC 40 + Maschine Mikro or MPD 32

I use a behringer bcr 2000 for producing and it works great with traktor!

The APC 40 is very easy to use, has a cross fader, and can be made more sophisticated with the software from Isotonik or Gangsterish (see my website under hardware)

Seems to be selling for 200 pounds on ebay, so thats in my budget including a PUSH. Yeah had a look at your website, interesting stuff up there !
