Looking for samples! Help me!
Ok i need good songs to sample. Im looking for like pretty lights type samples. Something with an eerie yet catchy piano or horn melody, some old soul or rnb i could sample well, old school hip hop, old school rnb or soul. Any thing that sounds close to something you would hear in a Pretty Lights song, i am all out of good samples and i need something of this sort. A great example is Nipsey Rusell - What I Would Do (If I Could Feel). Things that sound like that are perfect. Any help is strongly appreceated!!

the fun of sampling is finding your own shit, getting it fed to you defeats the purpose

Well, V... why not just sample pretty lights? In fact, it's probably easiest to just download a pretty lights track, and then TELL your friends that YOU made it. Not a lot of work, great product, fewer black eyes. Win win win!JukeBox Visionary wrote:Hi, my name is Visionary. My 'vision' is to sound exactly like Pretty Lights, but I don't listen to the music he listens to or have any talent at production so I'm finding this difficult. Also I don't have any taste in music myself... so can anybody with taste list me some songs that I can sample so I can convince my high school friends that I'm cool and maybe they won't beat me up so much?
Thanks,
V

Re: Looking for samples! Help me!
I can probably assist depending what you want the samples for. One of the things I do is to make compositions based on existing ideas without copying the original idea. Mainly for hip-hop and solo artists who start doing their thing with random instrumentals I make something in the style they find but original. Of-course this isn't completely free for everyone as I have invested quite a bit over the last 15 years to just be giving shit away but if you want a proper start without all that hard work then I am happy to assist.

Purchased samples we hope? The man doesn't take kindly to stealing....but haven't heard anyone getting bagged for this crap in awhile lol. I purchase or record personally (former more-so). And homie don't do no hip-hop (c)rap stuff here.

trap is the new dubstep, ha ha...target for general hatred, somewhat justified i guess
i can't name a single trap artist

Yeah perhaps i'm getting old but I have no idea what trap is. I have heard the genre bandered around and possibly heard something from the genre without notice but probably for the same reason simmerdown can't name an artist, it's just obscure enough to be under the radar. Dubstep was like that at one stage, now it's the topic of the month and everyone has an opinion.

It's like southern ghetto beats in a dubstep format or vice versa.
