If you're thinking of getting any NI synths, I would just go straight for Komplete, which is only $399 right.

That's an insane deal for all the synths and sample packs you get.

Yeah, Komplete is pretty fantastic as far as bang-for-buck

As far as individual synths, I think if I could only have one non-Ableton-native synth, Zebra2 would probably be my choice.

Great sound quality, lots of flexibility, huge number of excellent presets/preset packs, low resource footprint

Zebra2 and DIVA are hands down my favorites

CamelAudio's Alchemy is pretty decent, although I wish sample management were better

UPDATE: I am saving up for KOMPLETE 9 while I have the chance to get it; if I'm not satisfied, I'll save up for a while and hopefully get Live 9 Suite and/or Diva. I'm going to stop bugging you now :)
