Chromebooks?
Chromebooks?
Would Ableton Live work on a Chromebook? Would the laptop be able to handle the program?
Re: Chromebooks?
Probably not, it has the same processor as a mobile phone.

Re: Chromebooks?
It's a non-starter. Even the new Chromebook Pixel, which has an i5 CPU and 4 GB of RAM, wouldn't work. The issue is the OS, which is Google Chrome. It simply can't run Ableton, or other Mac/PC programs. It's locked into Google's cloud world.
The Pixel is a nice piece of hardware - and hypothetically, you could install Win7/Win8 on there since it's x86 architecture. There's already some noise about putting Linux on there, so a Windows install probably isn't far off. But even then, it isn't clear how the touchscreen/touchpad integration would work.
TL;DR: No Chromebook can currently run Ableton.

Chromebooks, what a useless bit of hardware. If you can't connect to the net you are totally screwed. And for what they charge you could buy a proper machine

Gadget recommendation site The Wirecutter agrees with you littlepig:

"Maybe someday Chrome OS will really be enough of an operating system to replace Mac OS X or Windows on a productivity machine. But at $1,300, the Chromebook Pixel is just too much machine for the software. If you have the money to spend on the Pixel and you need the kind of hardware it's packing, you have so many other better options."
