any new faders from namm 13?

Post by bartend7 » Sun Feb 24, 2013 5:39 pm

Hi

i dont go to namm. does anyone know if any type of midi controlled faders came out. I really want some nice fades to augment my novation launchpad and have been waiting for a few years. I have used nano kontrol, currently nanokontrol 2. i saw samson put some out, but they are small like the nano. i want some nice apc40 style faders. why does no one make this. ?

Someone does make this.

There are various things on the market. Specifying your budget would be a good starting point.

agreed, all i really want is a bank of faders, like a slimmed down midi only version of the vestax faderboard. Why has this space not been more explored?

Pffttt, he already said he used one of these.

Loads of fader choices round (Livid looks pretty awesome there for a custom solution) but what is your aim with faders (Track volume control, automation, both)? And why is it that the nano is not suitable? Their faders are kinda fiddly small but from what you describe:

- You have a Launchpad
- You want faders to compliment LP
- You like the faders the APC has
- You have been waiting 2 years???

Why not just sell your Launchpad and get an APC? Seems that would solve all issues.

You could get an MPD32 which has the same faders plus knobs and then gives you a drum machine too.

I thought the Nektar Panorama P1 looked pretty good. Interested to see how nicely it would play with anything other than Reason/Cubase...

Dont know why no one has mentioned the Livid Base: http://lividinstruments.com/hardware_base.php

It meets both qualifications of being at NAMM and having faders. (well kinda)

It might not have physical faders, but it makes the hassle of having/not-having motorized faders nonexistent while making it easy to carry around.

none of these are particularly good examples of a dedicated fader box. The faders are either poor quality or devoted to 'mixing desk' style of adjustment, rather than 'dj style' fader performance. If akai would make a simple line of 12 of the apc faders, much like the vestax faderboard, i would be greatly pleased.

Who said anything about DJing?

The poster (bartend7) asked about MIDI faders.

I like these.... http://www.icon-global.com/Controllers_ ... ls+Pro.htm

thanks for all the reply's. I appreciate it. for budget i was hoping for 200 hunderd or less. one poster was right in that i should probably just get the apc40 already. those are the faders i really like. i dont' dj. It will be using the faders for volume and automation. The nano is just too small to really dial in small changes, the faders fall off sometimes, the build is just weak and I feel like its going to break everyday (nano 1 already did). thanks for all the ideas guys. keep em coming.

@102455, i was speaking of my own preferences, thank you. Midi faders an underappreciated midi performance tool, most, like those icon-global controllers, or the bcf2000, are inappropriate for quick maneuvers, or as bartend7 points out, too easy to break.
