haha ok i have channel 1, out to fireface800, to compressor, running back on to channel two.

i don NOT want to HEAR channel 1, only the compressed version, but anything i try to do (solo channel 2, mute channel 1) kills the signal being sent out of live. can i make that send prefader/mute whatever?

Urm... Does the External Audio Effect device not work for you?

If not, just turn off the monitoring in the middle of the channel strip.
