Best FutureMusic 'In The Studio' episodes?
Best FutureMusic 'In The Studio' episodes?
I've only just started watching these, and its a handy way to learn from other peoples workflows. Not really fussed on which genres (I don't really want to learn genre-specific techniques) - but which of this series would be a good start to check out?
Which gave you the most ideas, and some good insights?
Thanks ini advance!

None of them. Even when they feature artists you might be interested in, the camera and audio is so horrible and most producers don't really say much.

pretty much have to agree with this..marcoskohler wrote:None of them. Even when they feature artists you might be interested in, the camera and audio is so horrible and most producers don't really say much.
i've seen quite a few and while it's cool to see a producer you're into work their rig and talk about a track they made, there's usually very little actual advice apart from 'what i used' and 'what i did here'.
i do recall there being a couple videos where tracks were made from scratch, but they might have been the computer music 'producer masterclass' series now that i think of it.

Any episode where they don't use that stupid Logic thing.

For anyone who might not be aware, there are some good "lectures" from (with) all sorts of musicians, DJs, producers etc. at the Red Bull Music Academy.

The BBC also do a Musician's Masterclass and there are lots of videos of those here http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/e8whzc/videos and there's some new ones starting tomorrow!
Details of new ones -> http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/ez8g9r/performances

Yeah, RBMA is quality - nor so much for production/workflow tips, but an awesome resource, nonetheless.
Are the BBC Masterclass ones OK? Doesnt look like there are many electronic one?

D.O.N.S. was good, and there's another one at home that was loaded with awesome info, but it was from a guy I wasn't familiar with so I can't recall the name right now -- I'll get back to you later tonight.

To be fair to the artists, that's because this is basically all they ask them to do.cotdagoo wrote:there's usually very little actual advice apart from 'what i used' and 'what i did here'.
