How to create custom ".alp" sound bank ?

Post by poba23 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 4:54 pm

Hello,
I have a question about ".alp" compression files :?:
Do you know how to create, while installing a sound bank, an image and text on the right side, which present the author ?
Kind regards,
DRJ. :wink:

Hello,
Even if I do not try to make a lesson, but a pack of sound, I'll try to follow your advice.
Kind regards,
DRJ. :wink:

Right. You don't have to make a lesson, that's just the means to put whatever info you want to show on the right when the user loads up the alp.

I find it useful for embedding images of my controllers with photoshopped overlay info in case I forget what a button on a preset does for example; a visual reference. Cheers!

Hello shadx312,
Many thanks ... I'll try following this procedure.
Can I take advantage of your kindness?
I created a pack of Dubstep sounds (see topic here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=191284) "Alp" file, and I wish after decompressing the file, sounds are automatically added to the library with the appearance of the file "lessonsEN.txt ".
Do you know the best technique to achieve this result?
thank you

Hi everyone,
No ideas to help me to create the perfect sound pack ?
- With a windows who allows me to describe the pack (text and pic) as "lessonsEN.txt" technic.
- Auto-install sounds in the correct folders.

Thank you for your help.
Kind regards,
DRJ.

Oops I forgot about this. I'm not sure how to do it, does the manual say anything about it?

I'm not sure you'll be able to have them load into the Library. I was looking at some of Live's library packs and there are some cfg files in there, one is XML, and another is encoded...so...that feature may only be available to vendors unless you want to try decoding how it works.

For example, in here: "Ableton Library\Packs\Orchestral Strings\Ableton Folder Info"
The metadata.cfg is encoded, I don't know what language.

The Properties.cfg says:
Ableton#04I

FolderConfigData
{
String PackUniqueID = "www.ableton.com/5";
String PackDisplayName = "Orchestral Strings";
String PackVendor = "Ableton";
Int PackMinorVersion = 0;
Int PackMajorVersion = 9;
Int PackRevision = 27352;
}
The VirtualFolders.cfg says:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Ableton MajorVersion="4" MinorVersion="9.0_299" SchemaChangeCount="5" Creator="Ableton Live 9.0b36">
<VirtualFolderConfig>
<Groups>
<VirtualFolderGroup GroupName="Sounds">
<Folders>
<VirtualFolder Name="Strings" Patterns="Cello, Double Bass, Strings Ensemble, Viola, Violin"/>
<VirtualFolder Name="Orchestral" Patterns="Cello, Double Bass, Strings Ensemble, Viola, Violin"/>
</Folders>
</VirtualFolderGroup>
</Groups>
</VirtualFolderConfig>
</Ableton>
Take a look around your Library\Packs\ folders and some of the lessons, maybe you'll pick up some more info but you'll have to see if Ableton will tell you about installing in the Library.
