How do I keep the Spectrum on master Track Open?

The spectrum automatically turns itself off view when I select other tracks, but I must keep it permanently on screen while I edit other tracks in clip/arrangement mode

Drop the spectrum on the individual track?

would that only analyse the single track, and not the overall mix?

Use a 3rd party spectrum analyzer.

I like Lives analyser, I think it would be better to have the option to have it permanently on screen while I edit other tracks in clip/arrangement mode. Like miekwave said.

There's a free VST called Voxengo Span that is amazing. I find it better than Live's built in spectrum. It can do exactly what you want it to. In fact you can have multiple spectrums simultaneously if you want. I don't think Live is able to do what you want. You'll have to find another solution, and Voxengo Span is a great one.
