Starting a live electronica band with a couple of old mates from the 80's.
One guy plays keys via a rack of Reason synths using his old yamaha synth as controler keyboard. The other guy has a Korg x50 and a bloefeld.
I'm using ableton to make and mangle beats, add the odd misc synth line, fx, vocals samples etc.
All sounded amazing even straight jamming with no midi sync as these guys are 30 years experienced key players.
I want sync up the reason laptop rack (using usb/midi lead), the two synths and my ableton (using a multi-out sound card)
The audio from each element including my creative sends would be recorded by an engineer on pro tools /SSL desk adding hardware rack fx for reverb and compression n other bread n butter fx.
Simple question: how do I sync up this shizzle? Do I use my laptop as the clock? I know how to set up external instruments and record the midi/audio but I'm not really doing that; I'm only ensuring that any timed stuff like lfo's n arps sync up while the maestros play their gear!...
Forgive me if this is simple I've not had much experience of hardware.
cheer n that.
