Besides the apogee audio interfaces, are there others out there that let you control your Mac's system volume via the keyboard volume keys?

Thanks!

I have the RME UC

When I have system preferences audio out set to RME I don't have control of the computer volume on the Mac keyboard

For example if I have ableton and iTunes open, Max volume is set on the RME GUI, Ableton master volume is the master out and iTunes has a volume in the upper left. Computer keyboard does nothing to change volume

What if you don't have Ableton open? I used to always use the keyboard to control the volume of my RME FF400, very handy. But I wasn't using a DAW at the time, just for iTunes and online streaming and what not.

I haven't explored that,

It may have to do with different osx's

Currently I can confirm osx 10.8 RME UC doesn't allow this.

I want to say my Motu ultra lite mk1 and fast track pro, this worked as requested. I sold mine so I can't confirm and I'm using a new osx now compared to before

Motu Audio Express, latest version of OSX, works as requested

That's weird that the RME UC doesn't allow system volume to control it. My RME Fireface 400 does. I use my wireless keyboard volume controls all the time. Whether or not I'm using a DAW. It controlls the fireface output level which in turn controls Ableton's output (main outs going to fireface) as well as system volume. However there was a brief period when I upgraded a bunch of stuff like the OS where it didn't work. Before I could figure out why, it started working again as expected. I don't know why, it may have been after a updated the RME driver, not sure. In any case, if you're using RME, make sure to download the latest drivers from the site.

Word

I do have the latest drivers I'm on Mac 10.8

One thing about my experience with the UC is I'm using the mixer program.

It's the only way I've found to control the output.

I've never had to use the mixer program for any of my previous sound cards

I'm super stoked on the sound I'm getting with this card it's far better than my old Motu Ultralite

MOTU's new drivers allow you to do this with any supported device, AFAIK.
