Algorithmic composition: The extreme cases.

This grabbed hold of my imagination. (Yes, I know it's intended as a joke.)

Wow, programming that would be my idea of a fun project, if I was back in school. I imagine sliders to adjust for dimensions of the shop, the density of the shop's inventory, the owl's max speed, the owl's recovery time after collisions, how long the owl can go without food ...

.

(I've only heard that band a couple times, and recall enjoying them.)

That approach is as much about modelling the physics of the instruments as it is about the algorithmic composition. Its a shame Ableton and AAS don't the vision to make really interesting instruments. Electric pianos, plucked strings, glockenspiels... but no nocturnal predators using hippy shops as resonators. You could probably achieve some decent results using maxmsp, maybe supercollider. I expect the MIT will have a couple of externals that might help you get started with the owl simulation.
