Honestly, I can see the OP being frustrated. Why couldn't the developer just refund his 10$ or whatever? Then he could have bought the mac version with that refunded money. It's only 10$ and the dev should know that people get over emotional and will slander his name all over the internet if they are not happy with a sale.

djjoeyc,

You readily admit that you made the mistake, this does not entitle you to expect that some other entity should pay for your mistake. I think the reasonable thing for you to have done would have been to let the DEVs know about your mistake while offering to purchase the correct software. If they don't offer an exchange or a discount, then you resell the unneeded software. It's simple as that. You have no grounds to criticize JBridge Customer Service, and have to recognize that they have the freedom to set their own policies, and appear to have done so in a reasonable manner.

The JBridge DEV is not Walmart, and I find the current paradigm (Walmart) used by consumers to set their expectations for customer service to be fundamentally at odds with the development of decent human beings. It would benefit everyone in the long run if global consumer culture shifted from the current paradigm of 'the customer is always right' (i.e. is rarely responsible for their actions) towards forcing people to be responsible and accountable for their actions and decisions. It might not be obvious but this would lead to the emergence of corporations that take responsibility for their actions. An analog of this being the emergence of industrial safety cultures that emphasize the personal responsibility of everyone involved (workers, subcontractors, managers, CEOs, corporate entities etc), which has had positive impacts on everyone involved, and less workplace injury and deaths.

Can't see why it can't be changed it's a small mistake that can be changed easy rather than hurting your reputation. Maybe you can find someone who bought the mac version by mistake and swop.

Easy mistake to make other devs would of been sympathetic but most devs sell both formats together.

On Jbridge's defence though If they want to sell separate Win and Mac versions this allows people to try exploit the mistake excuse to get both for one fee.

Yeah it works both ways for sure, except the buyer in this case has access to a copy of jbridge Windows. If I recall correctly it's situation where the copy protection is nil, it's a download to a full version and that's it. Like people have said it's possible to sell the Windows version and move on. KVR has an active and fast moving software market for instance.

Again if it wasn't so cheap to begin with I would be more on the sellers side here.

If they wont budge on their decision try selling it on KVR forum.

I don't use jBridge myself and don't know their T&C's but if you haven't activated the software it may be covered by your distance buying rights.

€14.99 isn't a lot of money but you may be within your rights for a refund, if not just bite the bullet buy the right version and try and sell the one you have at a discounted price to try and get some sort of return.

I can't believe the developer let it get to this. It just looks bad. Some transactions happen in real time on the net and some are delayed. If communication was made within the first 24 hours then "I" , as the dev would have seen value in resolving the situation to the customer's satisfaction. Maybe, just maybe, that customer stays my customer and I make more from them down the line.

With that said, I ( the dev ) would be less likely to work things out in a public forum in response to such a heated post.

I mean when it comes down to it.. we all use Jbridge. And some garbage post on a forum by someone with no reputation isn't going to affect anyone's decision to buy it.

If dev will send a version confirmation email before sending a file all confusion will die out.
"You bought Mac version - FINAL CONFIRMATION"

Right - so you bought the wrong version by mistake - it took 6 hours to receive the product - and some fanboys say you should pay twice for it!

"Can I exchange it for a version that works with my OS? I bought the wrong one!"

"No -> You didn't reply in 6 hours - pay me again for the same product - I am a small developer!"

Dammit - Copy Protection = Nil....Just put the thing on Extratorrent or email it to R2R!

Screw him!

Here is the only review I could find on KvR:

crwxyz

I have just installed cubase 7 on windows 7 64-bit and have bridge several plugins - Atmosphere, Soundtoys, Kick Ass Brass. None of these plugins seem to be able to find their .dat or preset files. I've used the spectramove utility to set the registry location for the .dat file, and confirmed that is where it points to. Soundtoys plugs launch, but show none of the built-in pesets. KAB can't find the soundfile even though the settings point to the right location for that as well. Any ideas?
