Alright, this is driving me bonkers and havent been able to find an answer.
I learned ableton from version 8 and used it pretty exclusively for about 4 years. Now when I try doing stuff with 9 the way I did them in 8, I get unexpected and frustrating results... For example:
When I select a bunch of midi notes and CTRL+D to duplicate them, ableton no longer keeps them highlighted so I have to reselect those notes if i want to duplicate them again. Highly annoying.
Second, if I select a note, or a string of notes, and move them to another area in my midi clip, if I dont do it fast enough ableton duplicates them at the current grid setting (or less if im moving slow) without letting go of the mouse button. So if i take a single note and drag it slowly across the clip, i can end up with hundreds of teeny tiny midi notes all next to each other. At first I thought it was my wireless mouse dropping its connection and just dropping the notes where it was at the time, but its not. This is frustrating, especially when dealing with chords. The behavior with draw mode on works the way I expect.
Basically, I'm complaining that they changed things and now my workflow is way slower and frustrating (half sarcastic comment). Does anyone have these issues? Are there any work arounds? Are there any settings that I could change to personalize 9 to work more like 8 with this respect?
Cheers, and thanks

I'm not a huge fan of the the new smart snap to grid thing. With this new method it is more confusing moving or duplicating notes at times.
