Yeah I know and the only point people have against Bitwig is that it isn't released yet.
On paper it's already much stronger...!

For me it's worth to wait cause it looks more promising then Live 9.

What I need to do in Live I can get from Live 8.
What I desire from Live, I hope to get from Bitwig.

All I don't need, is a half baked software and another bugfest.
So I hope Bitwig isn't Live's successor in that area...

well that's a pretty good point. Live 9 isn't everything i would like it to be, but it does exist, and can be used to write music. bitwig does absolutely nothing right now.

Someday you will realize that there is no such thing as perfection. One of the real skills of a musician is learning to work within the given limitations.

not long ago, i took a chance and bought logic and mainstage to check it out. reminded me of why i abandoned conventional DAWS after finding ableton over 10 years ago. horribly convoluted workflow, too many menus, visually unappealing and opaque, not very fun. ableton has its flaws, but its still the best thing available. good luck to bitwig, i hope it's the best thing ever and changes the way i make music as much as ableton did, but right now, bringing it up as a counter to live is really fucking stupid.

I agree totally and I was a Cubase user long time, but I found me always restricted and searched a way out.
Then I found Live 7 and was more then happy with the easy workflow.

Live 8 was so promising, but too many bugs in the early versions and the lack of PDC made it a nightmare for me.
Luckily Studio One appeared in the right time and has the same easy workflow like Live.
All with very good quality and stable as a rock...

I still use Studio One 1.5 together with Live 8.

I would use Live only again if it would deliver more reliability.,
compatibility and quality with third part effects.
(full PDC included)
A less totalitarian browser wouldn't hurt too...!

Live 9 should have been that, but I realized early it won't.
Not even close...


For now I have my DAW that works for me, but I wish for a little more.
Funny thing is, Bitwig promises all, so I left to wait and see if it will come true.
Time will tell if Bitwig delivers it...

I thought of you, not as as a troll, but rather being harsh, but fair.

Anyway, I have been checking out Studio One, and have been very impressed. The 'mastering' of tracks seems really well implemented & would save a heap of time.

It would be great if Rewire & 3rd party plugs worked with Live & S1.

How else are you using S1 & Live together ?

As I many times wrote, Abletons Sampler is the best sampler of all.
It's easy and uncomplicated, but strong and with very complex routing for sound design.
A great workhorse !

If I don't use it solo for sound design, I use Rewire to hook it with S1.
S1 has a sampler too, but it's more a sample player then a sound tool.

Using Lives rack to layer sounds is also great,
but without VST as Rewire slave unfortunately not very helpful.

Sampler and racks are the best things in Live 8 for me.

S1 isn't perfect at all, but it's not what I need from a DAW.
I need stability and quality and S1 delivers it.
Live rewired works perfectly and no crashes at all.


Bitwig won't support Rewire and that is the only minus I see so far.
I'm also very exited about the modular feature coming, and see a great potential in there.
I use Reaktor and on the NI site are thousands of Reaktor ensembles made by the users.
and expect Bitwigs modular system to be as successful as Reaktors.
Could be replacing many VST-Synth/Effects in the future,
when users get creative and share their creations.
