So... Anyone using os X TIGER ???

Post by ernene » Fri Apr 29, 2005 9:36 am

Just being too curious... I know that a lot of us will have to wait till all plugs in and drivers will be updated to run on Tiger.... But, maybe there's someone who already installed it... I just want to know, as I have it on my hands but will have to wait a bit (As a Tassman user, at least 4 weeks ) And I do not want to know when M-AUDIO will have the (buggy) drivers ready.... :x
so, anyone?

Cheers :)

I ve it...gives another 20% boost for logic...and again a 0% boost for live...but graphics seem to be faster...everthing is working fine with my multiface... The general feeling on my old laptop is much better with tiger,
feels good

That's disappointing! My copy of Tiger is lurking across the road at the Apple shop, but it's midnight so I'll have to pick it up tomorrow and report back here over the weekend re my findings (gonna install it on my old 1GHz PB first - don't think my 4-yr-old daughter will mind if Live crashes on her PB as long as her Pooh bear games still work). :)

Pooh bear games? Gotta get me some of those.

Pooh is one wise bear.

Is anyone trying it on a TiBook 550 or slower machine?
How's it responding?
What's Live's behaviour like?
MacBook Pro 2.0, 2 GB RAM, Mac OS 10.6.8, Live 7.0.18, etc.

Just installed it here. Took about 25 minutes to do. Just installed it on 10.3.8.

General feeling is that it feels more smooth on a dual 1,8 g5.

The pitch plugin is cool. But the tempo plugin is not listed in Live i think. Still looking for that one.

Everything still works. Some apps prompt to update. Fine by me.
There is also an update (10.4.1) coming very soon.

Cheers

Had a crash after using Tiger's Pitch plug-in. Can't open the song again and have to start it all over, a real bummer. But I can't say what caused that crash. I'll build that session again from scratch and will see if it happens again.

Installed Tiger on my G5 first and then after checking that things were ok also on the Powerbook. No problems except for that mysterious Pitch AU crash. For Live I cant's see that anything runs better under Tiger. I was quick to instal just because I was so curious on the system included AU's and also because I use Logic a lot. If you work only in Live I can't see any reason to upgrade yet.

running it as of tonite.
i gotta say its ultra smooth. the GUI is so fluid now, i'm really enjoying it.
good to see that Apple can speed up their machines with code instead of just speeding them up with faster hardware every 9 months (which helps too but ya know what i mean).

barefeats.com posted some panther vs. tiger benchmarks.
Doom3 got a 40% boost. 8O Photoshop got about 10%
I've noticed that Safari, iChat, etc. are all extremely fast now, and on my 1.5ghz G4 i have no slow downs with the eye-candy such as expose and dashboard.

I've read in various forums from numerous people
that ALL their aps are noticeably faster in Tiger...
except Abeltons Live!

Same old story here folks..
Bummer because I use Live & like the Abelton folks.

-edit- damn. wanted to post something in russian and chinese. But the forum wont take the characters :(

That translator is pretty funny. "tiger kicks ass" translated into chinese and then back to english turns up "The tiger kicks buttocks".
And there are loads of other funny things you can come up with by just translating back and forward. :)

o tigre é uma parte excelente de programação do computador
