You should be more specific though because a good deal of recorded(and live) harpsichord music is
in 12 TET as well as a good deal of Aphex Twin.

Aphex Twin is particularly interesting in this regard because he can use a bunch of old analog gear
in 12 TET and some crazy Metasynth like microtonal stuff on the same album and it all fits together seamlessly.

Just thought I'd say goodbye before this thread fades away and ableton continues their belief that 12 tone equal temperament is the only (I won't even get into their lack of rhythmic quantization options outside the very most simple).

I think that it would be very interesting to experiment more with temperaments directly in a DAW like Ableton. Especially after watching the last two videos, it is obvious that we gave something up when equal temperament was universally embraced.

Old thread but an interesting topic. Here's a techno track with Micro-tonal pads courtesy of UHE Bazille. You hear the 'souring effect' more as the chord's density builds towards the end of the track. The bass line is an SH101 and isn't tuned to the same microtonal scale as the pads, it's regular 12tet.

Any UHE Diva or Bazille users who are interested in getting into using the micro-tonal options, get ready for a lot of trial and error and weirdness. Some scales have 24 notes per octave and your patterns will sound totally different.

Here's another track where the main noodly riff that comes in at bar 25 is UHE Diva with a different micro-tonal scale. SThe background heavily treated synth (not the bass which is 12tet) from the start is also in the same scale

Im ok with using U-he stuf and Omnisphere.
The only thing I miss is to custom configure the midi editor. Like if im using a 13 note scale, id like the grid to reflect that. Basicly id like to be able to edit the scale layout of the keyboard midi note grid.

Yeah it's very hard to figure out exactly whats going on in the scales. Not sure if you have an iPad but the scale gen app https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scalege ... 56629?mt=8 is a great demonstration of whats possible. I haven't explored it fully yet, just played around with it, but the possibilities seem vast.

Have you seen fellow Ableton Certified Trainer Subaqueous' work on this?

Yeah I can't say i'm too interested in the 432 stuff, If I was I'd just slow down my premaster file a little for the same effect.

I don't have any dogs in this fight...but I personally do not entirely disregard some of the points in the 432 vs 440 argument and disagree that any of the benefits as described could entirely be achieved by simply slowing down your masters. A primer of these theories are presented here:

This one and all the others have been posted here before and have been thoroughly debunked for those who choose to look at the actual science of acoustics and harmonics instead of pseudoscience. That particular article restates the Goebbels myth as if it's fact when 1. That's not how 440 became the standard and 2. The only evidence you'll ever find of Goebbels being involved with it is in these pro-432 articles and nowhere else.
