Is 9.0.4 stable enough ?

Post by Whysolazy? » Wed Jun 26, 2013 7:11 am

I have 8.4 installed that works perfectly .

I had many problems with Live9 so I deleted it and waiting for more stable version .

Is 9.0.4 stable or you would recommend to wait ?

Thanks

it isn´t stable enough for me. the system slows down while editing midi notes with my mouse or push and the results are glitches :/ i did tests on two fresh maschines and im waiting that ableton can reproduce it :/ but it seems that only a few people are affected (maybe im the only one)?!

Live 9.0.4 32-bit has been stable for me. As long as I don't use any Max4Live devices...

9.05 64 bit has been sucking ass for me .. it crashes when I try to shut it down, it freezes when I try to edit anything.. and sometime crashes while playing the tracks back..and mx4 live crashes it everytime!!! i just installed the update from 9.02 and I must say , 9.02 ran waaay the fuck better.. I can't believe how much worse it is.

All versions of 32-bit 9 have been super stable for me on OSX 10.8.4.

Saying that I only use Analog/Operator/M4L devices/uTonic....I don't use samples so don't have a big library.

I wonder if some people have updated to Java 7 on OSX, which is 64-bit only.

Never had any real problems with Live 9, I7 3rd gen, 8MB.

I believe stable as a term is a 'red herring' without more information someone could be running Live 9 on a Celeron, with 1 meg of RAM, and 20 VST's.

Say this Live 9 has crashed when using M4L. However careful observation showed me that if editing in M4L or using a M4L instrument careful closing of these before closing down Live eliminated a lot of problems of crashes.

Never a single crash on my macbook air 2012. Haven't tried any 64-bit versions though.

yeah they found the drum rack performance bug and it´s high priority now. i´m one of the only one who are using drum racks? it should affect all drum rack users. more samples = more freezing (while editing midi notes like velocity, note lenght etc.)

Seems stable when running, but crashes regularly when trying to shut down

To be honest even as a fanboy, I've pretty much had it with Ableton. Live 8 was so shite for me that I actually started using Logic ( the benefit - I actually finished songs :) )

However, I'm liking 9, but how f*cking hard it is to produce a reliable bit of software!!!!

Again I've paid out a truckload of money for something that doesn't work properly.

On a Macbook pro with nothing dodgy in sight.
MacBook Pro, Mojave, Live 10, Logic Pro X, UAD Apollo & Satellites, UAD, NI Komplete, Izotope, Korg, Audio Damage, Fabfilter, Waves plugs.

I'm on Win XP SP3 and Live 9.0.4 is stable for me. I haven't tried using M4L yet.

However, Live 9 doesn't work with my USB midi interface. The moment you try and send an output to more than one of its four ports the interface stops responding to messages from Live. Only by restarting Live will it work again.

I'm back on Live 8 for now because it works and the browser doesn't do silly things.

Other than the browser slowing me down when first opening the program Live 9 has been fine for studio use.. I still don't trust it for live use but I really haven't given it a proper test.

8.4 for live sets
9.x for studio

that has been working great for me recently
