Best filters?

Post by Mint Invader » Wed Jul 10, 2013 2:23 pm

So, I like abletons filter for the low and highpass stuff... but man that band-pass is seriously lacking.

Now I know that Live 9 has major improvements with the eq8... and essentially can become epic filter land.

But in the meantime for a live 8 user... whats your favorite stand alone filters?

I'm a big fan of a lot of FXPansion's stuff, and so I jumped on Etch immediately when they released it. It's very resource hungry, but most of the time when I was looking for something more creative sounding, or more edgy than what Live 8 offered, it was my go-to. It has bite and character when desired, and I really like FXpansion's Transmod system.

Allow me to simply add that I haven't used other popular filter plugs, like fab filter, or WOW, so that should be taken into consideration.

Might as well just plunge into The Drop, or M4L

Actually I've used the PredatorFX vst to run some audio through the filter options and that's a nice option. I'd probably do it more if I didn't forget as much that that's an option. :P

Wow is fun for maybe... 5 minutes with the vowels. But other than that it gets a bit stale.

I'd say NI's The Finger. Btw it's not just a filter, much, much more and very creative )

I love Etch, great filters including a great comb and excellent modulation.

And yep, quite CPU hungry when it's oversampling
