Mono - not showing up in right channel when panned to the R
I recorded a riff on my guitar directly into Ableton, it was recorded as Mono.
When it is panned C, i can hear it come out of both speakers.
However, when I pan it to 50R, the sound disappears altogether.
everywhere else from 50L - C - 49R has sound, but only on both speakers.
Is there anyway to make this a true mono in respect to how it pans? (same sound coming out of both speakers)
I want to be able to pan to both left and right

Add a Utility device and choose the channel in the dropdown which plays audio.
Then it will make it play on both channels.
In the future, you can change your Audio input settings to receive channels 1 or 2 instead of 1+2. Then you'll be able to select the channel your guitar plays into and record it in mono.

I've tried this but it has no effect.
I drop the utility directly onto the track which I want to be able to pan.
In the drop down is left, right, stereo, swap.
None of these drop down selections do anything for me.

You don't have this problem with any other audio in Live? Only that recording?
I might be out of ideas heh.

Just realized something.
The track is inside of a group.
When I pan on the track itself, I exhibit the problem stated.
If I pan the group itself, then it works.
However, thats not what i really want to do, there are two tracks inside of that group. I want to pan one track left and one track right.

when you did the recording, what was your input routing?CancerRidden wrote:I recorded a riff on my guitar directly into Ableton, it was recorded as Mono.

are you saying that at 50L you still hear sound from the right speaker?
surely the sound must be coming from somewhere else in your channel routing. do you have effects on a send?

then you probably recorded in stereo, but only into the left channel, rather than one channel in dual-mono.CancerRidden wrote:Just realized something.

yes that is correct. at 50L the sound is still as if it is C.
When it is at exactly 50R the sound is gone altogether. In other words, anything other than 50R is full sound on both speakers.

Agh! After closer examination the panning works when I disable the Guitar Rig that I have on.
ugh

Did you get it? Guitar Rig is mono by default. You can switch it to stereo.

oh, you might have mentioned earlier that you had other processing on the channel...CancerRidden wrote:Agh! After closer examination the panning works when I disable the Guitar Rig that I have on.

Ah, how do you do this?yur2die4 wrote:Did you get it? Guitar Rig is mono by default. You can switch it to stereo.
Yeah fishmonkey, sorry about that, the guitar rig was enabled in the group and not the track i was specifically trying to pan, didnt see it.
Re: Mono - not showing up in right channel when panned to the R
Should be on the top. I've seen a few tutorials where the first thing they do is go up there and change it to 1+2.

I had this same problem and although I clicked dual as opposed to mono on the amp, I also realized I had mono selected on the cabinet. dual fixed everything.
