If you look at the photo in the first post, both the device and the midi editor are open at the same time, although on different screens.mr.ergonomics wrote:Angstrom are you sure that you can see the midi editor and the devices at the same time?
I would love that too, but I have no evidence that this will be possible - or in other words that it will be possible to have just the midi editor on the second screen. It may really be session view on one screen and arrangement view on the other.

Yes, it's clearly visible on this image

I'd embed it, but it's quite a large pic

I did know this picture and you're right, one will be able to see the devices from a specific track on one view and the midi on the other.Angstrom wrote:Yes, it's clearly visible on this image

I did phrase my question badly sorry... what I mean was that I'm not sure if you could work in arrange view/session view on one screen, while editing a specific midi clip in that view on the second monitor.
- arrange view on one screen and the the session view on the other like a mixer -> yes
- arrange view or session view on one screen, clicking on a midi-clip opens the editor on the second screen -> I don't know

I was gonna cheer... but let's keep the celebration to a post implementation affair lest we have another Bitwig thread... i.e. old enough to tie it's own shoes but still only just talking...panten wrote:I think they already anticipated thatH20nly wrote: to be followed by much bemoaning for not having the same feature on a single monitor.
people wanting side-by-side views on a single big monitor

Re: Ableton 9.1 Dual Monitor Support + more
not sooo exiting ....i dont bought live 9 until PDC/timing is not here ...
i ve bought studio one producer and its like a REVELATION (PDC) ...
plus, look at all the enhancements they made for free, for 2.5 and 2.6 ...
so i hope that competition with S1 + fl + bitwig makes them react ...
edit:...finally high hopes for 9.1...

there's some info from Dennis buried in the CDM comments

I can chime in on some of this, although note that we're not even in beta yet so things are always subject to change:
"will it indeed be possible to have side-by-side windows on a single wide screen?"
- Yes, it will. What you're actually doing is opening a second window, which is completely repositionable anywhere you want. For the demo, I just dragged it over to the second display and maximized it, but there's no reason why you couldn't just tile the windows on one big monitor.
"did Dennis appear to be using keyboard shortcuts/macros to switch between view layout presets?"
- Not really. I was just using Tab and Shift-Tab. In one-window-world, these always switched between showing the Arrangement/Session and Clip/Device views, respectively. In two-window-world, these key commands swap the views between the windows.

Of course ... an iPad can be used as a touchscreen extra monitor, so if you don't rock a two screen setup you may still get some benefits.dennisdesantis wrote:- Yes, it will. I suppose you could just drag the midi editor in one of the views to cover the whole screen, and then whenever you click on a midi clip in the other view it'll be shown in the enlarged area you dragged.mr.ergonomics wrote:I did know this picture and you're right, one will be able to see the devices from a specific track on one view and the midi on the other.Angstrom wrote:Yes, it's clearly visible on this image

Re: Ableton 9.1 Dual Monitor Support + more
great update, errr
<feeling stupid for only having a laptop and no second monitor. shit I even only have a launchpad and not push, and when I think of it I honestly couldn't hear a difference between 12bit and 16bit when getting blindtested here on the forum, so even the rendering-improvement is not really of any use for me>
at least it´s free, haha
