If ableton can include real comping and better multitrack quantize implementation and retina support and maybe a really good tape modeling proc live will be unstoppable when compared to pro tools cubase sonar studio one and reaper , then it would be minor improvements and bug fixes to kill time till live 10

Better Patch Selection in Browser Selection

Each "Preset" should possess the following attributes for search

(Taking Inspiration From MicroKorg XL)
Instrument Type Attribute | Music Style Attribute

PC Patch Mode
LSB/MSB Program Change Assignment for Patches in each "Instrument"
For example: Ableton Live ANALOG instrument would have Bank 001 PG 001-128
This would emulate Hardware PC assignments

Import/Edit MIDNAM for ext synths
MIDI TRACK to External Instrument should have a drop down list containing your synths PATCH NAMES
Example, Replace PC000 with PC000 - Grand Piano 1

Assign MIDI ports
Assign each ports midi channel with respective hardware input. This would improve workflow.

and all my other rants lol

it is done perfectly in CUBASE - you just select your program for your keyboard and do not look in the manual for right LSB/MSB/program change.

Oh yes; VST crash protection like in Bitwig :-)

Great improvements to the DAW - more sophisticated editing tools, more selection methods (time selection sucks), and solid track parts (like Logic).

A BROWSER THAT ACTUALLY BROWSES TO -ANY- LOCATION ON YOUR COMPUTER, IMMEDIATE AND WITHOUT IMPORTING FOLDERS, LIKE OUR LIVE 8 BROWSER.

Darn, my Shift got stuck.. Sorry about that.

Never happened in the Live 8 Browser days. You know, back when the browser could perform actions like browse, delete, go back a folder, go to root even, just go anywhere and play any sound instantly.
