M4L requires the horribly insecure Java 6?

Post by Vance » Sun Sep 22, 2013 11:34 am

Just setting up Live 9.0.6 after reinstalling OS X (10.8.5) and I installed the latest Java SE directly from Oracle (Java 7 update 40) but when I launch instances of Max For Live effects, I get an OS X dialogue box saying that Java 6 SE is required...

Java 6 is rife with security issues that will *never* be patched because it's no longer supported by Oracle - see here: http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/09 ... perts-say/

Is Max For Live not in any way compatible with Java 7? I'd rather not install some old, unsupported, and dangerously insecure software on my studio machine

It shouldn't be a problem when you disable java in the browser....

Not intending to ruffle feathers, but kind of curious why your studio PC is on the internet?
