You when you have your cell phone in the same room or just kinda close to your monitors (any speaker actually) it makes some buzzing and popping noises? Well I was wondering if this can harm your speakers or the magnets. I don't want to have to drop another $700+ because of a stupid phone.

Nokia(free phone) and Cingular is my provider. This happens everywhere I go. Whenever I'm at a friends house watching a movie or listening to the stereo the speakers buzz like crazy whenever my phone is about to ring. I know that someone is calling me before the phone starts to ring.

yes its just the equipement pucking up the signal - and id imagine best thing to do is turn the phone off whilst near your expensive equipement is the best idea. ive not heard of it causing damage but you never know.

I've heard the cellphone pops in a lot of clicky IDM recently - Aphex:druqks and others. It's cool to see people checking for text messages when it's really the track that's messing with ya.

GSM phones like Cingular have a way of getting into speakers. Haven't had any trouble with CDMA ones.

How would I know the difference between a GSM and CDMA phone? Plastikman sampled the generic Nokia ringtone on his Closer album, that got me the first time I heard it.
