Live 5 date?
Live 5 date?
When will live 5 be released?
I mean, live 4 took a huge step with midi support, and is greate.
But you guys missed a couple of things, like freeze function ect.
You know it, and know that live is a year or two behinde in some functions.
Curios, when will live 5 show up?
like late 2005? early 2006?, 2007?

Re: Live 5 date?
Live 4 was released on the 24th of July but announced on the 4th of June.Patbos wrote:When will live 5 be released?

The date of the announcement can be found just above the Live 4 Logo.
Of course there is no guarantee Ableton will announce Live 5 within the next two to three weeks but based on last years timing it's not a bad guess just not a guarantee.

Haha! That sounds like fun. I think that each Live update has been a year or less, so personally I'm sure we'll be hearing about Live 5 before the autumn...cmusicmaker wrote:Live 4 was released on the 24th of July but announced on the 4th of June.Patbos wrote:When will live 5 be released?
...on the other hand, Live 4 was a gigantic step, and I think that the ongoing (until recently) updates on 4 have needed to adress the fact that L4 was version 1 so far as MIDI is concerned.
Also, on the publicity/shelf-life issue, Live 4 is still a hot topic, and I expect there are lots of sales still coming in...
...and then there's the fact that Ableton also produced Operator this year, which will have taken up some of their programming time. And Operator has generated another batch of positive reviews and publicity.
So like I said, my money is on the autumn for Live 5.
I hope it includes a freeze function, PDC, per-track arpeggiator, and possibly channel EQ on the fader strips

This is all true, but Ableton has also reduced the price on their bundles.
For what it is worth.
That may mean that they are trying to attract even more customers before making the announcement for LIVE5.
Personally, there are some things that I almost need at this point that I would hope would end up in LIVE5, and they can't come soon enough.
PDC, may be among the tops....

Macbook c2d 2.0, 2G RAM, 160G HD 5400 RPM, OSX(10.5.5), XP Home, LIVE6, BCR 2000, UC33e, Yamaha P-200, Logic Studio, KRK V6 II
Interesting - I didn't spot that. Yep, that probably means we're in phase 2 so far as Live 4 is concerned...anti-banausic wrote:This is all true, but Ableton has also reduced the price on their bundles.

...
That is, the "sell off all the remaining boxes in the store room" phase

maybe, but i wouldn't count on it. for one thing, Project 5 isn't available for macintosh, therefore if Ableton was actually competing with them, it would only be a battle over windows users. and for the 10 things P5 does that are similar to Live 4, there are 100 that it doesn't. They do compete in the starter market however and the price difference might sway a lot of newbs.
