audio bangs since 9.1

Post by fastfx » Mon Dec 09, 2013 1:16 pm

Ever since i upgraded to 9.1, i'm getting these random 'bangs/spikes' in audio, where the sound goes really loud, and leaves a popping sound in the right monitor. i have to stop ableton and turn the monitors down immediately for it to stop, then i can carry on, before fit does it again.

does anyone know what this could be?

any help or suggestions would be great, thanks

Do you have any plug ins loaded that you didn't use before the update?
Certain Fabfilter plugs come to mind ;-)

Do you see this noise in the meters? And is it coming from specific tracks?

yes, the right master meter is red and going up and down really fast, then it dies down slowly.

the left one is always fine. it's always the master channel.

its like something just goes nuts and blows the master meter.

its like a crackling/popping sound, but really fast.

Does it always happen at the same place in your set or always after a certain time?
It sounds like some automation or LFO going haywire!
Well, I'm running out of ideas, hopefully someone else can help you, good luck!

its completely random, I've tried going over the same part where it happened before and it does nothing. very random!! very annoying.

ohhhhh i am using Jbridge - thats the only new thing i have just put on - i am wrapping a couple of plugins from 32bit to 64 via bridge.

That's a good question. If one of your licenses didn't carry over, or you installed shareware, there might be a burst in a demo mode of a isynth or effect.

Also, try moving the same clips to new tracks, just to see if it opens up the mix to both sides. I had a similar moment yesterday where I was feeding a delay return but somewhere down the signal flow it was building up only on the left side.

hmmm yeah good point, i reckon it could be that 'demo' mode on some synth i have. i noticed the other day that i loaded up a synth and it was asking me to activate it.

thanks fellas
