Main DAW system: RME Fireface UFX, connected via USB. Lowest latency and highest reliability at small buffer sizes of any interface I've used.
For the iPad: Roland Duo-Capture EX. Good performance and features for a low price.
For special duties on my laptop: Roland Tri-Capture. Very low latency and several interesting features for not much $.

and I sold it cause it starting garbling the sounds. I got an EIE Pro and returned it because it wasn't compatible with Mavericks...now I'm awaiting the Focusrite Saffire 14.

the new Universal Audio Apollo Twin is absolutely killer. The mic pre's are the same as the ones on its flagship Apollo models, and the integrated 610 mic pre technology makes vocals and drums sound really pristine and clear.

Focusrite 18i8.
Needed 4 mic-pres.
Thought about the Apogee Quartet ($1300).
Pondered if that unit sounds 3-4 times better than the 18i8 ($340).
Figured..probably not.
The content/quality going in is about 91% of the equation.
Having said that, the Universal gear looks pretty dang slick, but ultimately it's
the same tool.

It's not a literal calculation, more conceptual.stoersignal wrote:strange thought. actually it`s kind of sad that this kind of calculation never workspierce200 wrote: Pondered if that unit sounds 3-4 times better than.........
Sad? That's an interesting thought.
Re: What audio interfaces are you guys using?
M-Audio Delta 1010 with Omni box
going strong since 2003.
It actually has great latency given that it runs off a pci card.

Metric Halo MIO 2882 since years now ! Very good converters and rock solid driver, and MH has just announced some new technologies that will be upgradable even for the MIO 2882, which is now a 13 years old gear. MH interfaces are expansive but they always keep them upgradable. For me, it was/is a very good invest.

RME Multiface since 2002 - 12 years now!!
Totally happy but will update to a Haswell Cpu with actual MB which doesn't support PCI anymore.
I have to get a used HDSP PCIe card to get the Multiface up an running for another x years.
