Live DJ recording to different Ableton tracks
Is there a way to record live DJ sets to Ableton so that whenever you switch the crossfader while mixing, it records on a new Ableton track?

Not that I can think of, maybe try asking over at AbletonLiveDJ.com and see if they might have any ideas.

You could potentially do it with a DJ mixer like the Xone92 - that has two stereo sends. Open send 1 for track 1 on the Xone and route the send for recording on track 1 in Live. Open send 2 for track 2 on the Xone and route the send for recording on track 2 in Live. This way you will not be recording the master channel of the Xone, but the send outs. Now the recording of each track in Live will follow exactly the movements of each track on the Xone.

It would be cool if you could record two separate channels of audio into live.. On two live channels... With all the eq and fader action captured in live... And any effects captured also...

What do you mean 2 separate channels? If you have four ins in your audio interface, obviously you can record to 2 stereo tracks at the same time.Davemarch2 wrote:It would be cool if you could record two separate channels of audio into live.. Where is "all the eq and fader action" happening?
Is there a problem with recording stopping when you move between tracks?

My guess is he's after something like the Serato/Ableton Bridge "Mixtape" feature, which recorded the audio from both DJ decks and also (if you had suitable hardware) all the MIDI signals from the mixer levels, EQ etc.

Yes, this seems neat. But who's got time for "perfecting" Dj mixes?102455 wrote:My guess is he's after something like the Serato/Ableton Bridge "Mixtape" feature, which recorded the audio from both DJ decks and also (if you had suitable hardware) all the MIDI signals from the mixer levels, EQ etc.

That'd be DJs.
Re: Live DJ recording to different Ableton tracks
Use two channels with scratch track plugin loaded into them and midi mixer. You could even automate everything... If you want, of course
Re: Live DJ recording to different Ableton tracks
isn't that what "the bridge " did? or something close?
