Sanplerate for playing live 44.1khz vs 48khz

Post by trennscharf » Sun Jan 19, 2014 2:21 pm

Hi all,

I am currently in the preparation for playing live and I´m wondering if I should stick to 48khz as I used to produce ever since. Or if I should go to 44.1khz for live due to lesser resource consumption. I already read some articles about playing live and sample rates in general and it seems that most people are using 44.1 and 24bit anyway...Any thoughts on that?

Thanks
Dominik

If you're already at 48, might as well stick to it. Going to 44.1 won't really free up much CPU, and the added Sample rate conversion might affect the quality depending on what tools you have available for the job.

At the moment all my tracks are with 44.1khz samples anyway and I think only live instrutments / VSTs will be rendered realtime in what ever Sample Rate you selected - right? So it would not be of negative impact going to 44.1khz

I would stick 24/44. Unless there arent tons of material to convert from 48 to 44 of course. I hate converting :D
48 is film standart, i dont see (hear) any benefits to music.
