Windows XP Users: MME/DirectX vs. ASIO?
What are your thoughts between the two different driver types. How have your experiences been? Pros/Cons?

I attempted to utilize the ASIO setting.
*I failed to mention that I'm trying to monitor the 1/4-inch TRS Inputs and SPDIF Outputs at the same time. I altered many settings to no avail.
Is it unfeasible to monitor TRS Inputs and SPDIF Outputs at the same time?

Re: Windows Desktop-Users!! MME/DirectX vs. ASIO?
I seem to have the same problem, I was changing my audio preferences according to the tutorial and while doing that I was listening music. Now when I changed from MME/DirectX to ASIO all of a sudden my music stopped playing. But the interesting part is is that only in ASIO I can hear the test tone.asanlui wrote:interesting...i'm using MME/DirectX ........ when i switch to ASIO, nothing's coming out ... but the 'Monitor Bars' on the clips/master shows that there's indeed I/O
hhmmmmm...
I'm a real noob, started with Reaper a week ago and now trying Ableton but I really am green at this. So I would appreciate any help at all.
Regards.

Asio is way better than direct x. I have never been able to get control of a soundcard once Live has started (i am using xp). So I have to set up soundcard so that spdif is fine with me.... using the proprietary control panel and then start up live.
