Isn't the whole idea with the 'edit' button in clip view that it should launch your desired editor, where you make your changes, hit 'save', return to Live, where the clip is automatically updated?

Ah, well; if it works for you, who cares?

Tested wavosaur (free) here this morning. It works as expected. Open a sample in clip view, click edit, edit away in wavosaur, save. When you return to Live the clip has been edited. So for destructive editing launched inside of live this looks like an option.

fwiw even though I love audacity I've always found the fact that it saves audacity projects rather than audio files a workflow downer. Who works with audacity projects? ;-)

I have been using Amadeus for years as my basic sample editor. I also use it to rip my vinyl for DJ'ing in Traktor. It was like 30 bucks or so in 2007 when I bought it, not sure how much it costs now. I love that program.
