Will you leave Ableton for BitWig?

Cant you just put a vst crossfader on the master, or a bus? If that is all thats holding you back it shold be easy to fix..

No, that won't work, and no it's not that simple.

Hmm.. If you create 2 audio tracks, name them A and B, then map both volume fades to a controller, and reverse the B mapping? Group the tracks and name the group Crossfade. Sure it can be done more advanced than this, but this is just an easy example. If you want a specific fade curve there are probably crossfade vsts that can be used instead of volume fades etc. Or M4L devices. Its not as fast as clicking the A and B Crossfade buttons under the tracks, but its almost. Just set the output on the tracks you wish to mix to either track A or B.

But I guess you have something specific in mind..

The best way to hack up a cross fader when you don't have one is by abusing track pan controls (to get the constant power type cross fade curve).
Nothing to see here - move along!

Why do all of that when I could just use Live? :roll:

{I don't think M4L (Max for Live) will work with Bitwig.}

Ops, I meant just Max hehe. :P (BitWig might have a crossfade plug btw.) Well I think its easy and fast, but to each his own I guess.

That's the entire point. If, as many Bitwig supporters are so adamant about, Bitwig is better than Live, then shouldn't it make things easier? If I have to work harder, or am forced to use workarounds to achieve the same results, is that really better?

Not for me. I appreciate the fact that Ableton has some competition, but if it's going to makes things more difficult, I'll stick with Live.

^ Because before Push came along, Live wasn't a viable product.

BitWig is too late to the party.

They should have released it when Live 8 was still current. It was the worst release of Live by far. Riddled with bugs and crashes and without any updates for almost four years. People were starting to think Ableton was going belly up and would have gladly jumped ship to try something younger and refreshing.

Then Ableton Live 9, free M4L for all Suite owners and Push came along...

GG, as they say.

What party? Was Studio One late too this party as well?

I was already a suite owner with M4L. I don't DJ and I don't perform live anymore. I suspect a good number of Live users don't perform Live. And Push is not something I need/want. Now I'm glad Ableton made the improvements they did but I hardly think Ableton was going belly up and as far as I am concerned that "party" is coming along nicely. With or without either app.
