Ableton Live 10
Re: Ableton Live 10
I'm in no hurry for VST3 support... there is lots of other stuff I would rather have first.
Automation PDC
Don't really need more clever tools... I have yet to even try the audio to midi feature.
Lots of added features over the years have been 50-75% of awesome. I'd rather have a ton of small and smart improvements to existing tools.
For example, re-imagining of follow actions and follow scenes
I don't need more sample content, instruments, etc
I would like to see core functionality focused on.
For example, I really like the Hybrid tracks in Bitwig cause you can bounce individual midi clips in place. That is a very efficient workflow.
I don't think it matters what is said in this thread because at this point, 1 1/2 years after Live 9, all these things must already be decided for Live 10. My best guess (I'd love to be surprised) is that Ableton will again try to entice everyone with the piecemeal approach... and thrill nobody because of it. The core functionality will get just enough to make me want to upgrade, but not enough to really impress me. It is kinda the nature of a well established application with a broad userbase.

Multi Midi Editing for god´s sake. Bitwig showed how it´s done. still prefer using Live though, at least until the point where the jamming part ends and the real composing part begins. Ableton is a dead end there, at least for people who aren´t able to keep a whole score in their heads.

Auto track naming and colors when you drag an audio file onto a blank track, or live creates a new track for you.
Strip silence.
Bigger handles for the mixer.
MP3 and m4a export.

Re: Ableton Live 10
- midi drum clip edit page with individual loop points per pad (like Geist) - would be v.nice with Push
- multi-selection of non-contiguous events in arrange
- 'cut/paste/delete time' per track options
- proper full-window edit page with qwerty shortcut

Yeah, that is a bit behind the times. I guess part of it is because of soundcloud which automatically converts?

Re: Ableton Live 10
I'm still thinking more about minor little cleanups, improvements or stuff that you'd expect to already be a feature already, like if you wanted to change multi-chain dropdowns in a drum rack, like setting the Choke number.
can't do it.
and the Sampler, increase some mapping ability and modulation destinations, maybe more about a couple certain ones. It'd be nice if conversions could be better but I understand each format has their restrictions, especially if you're stuck with Kontakt 4 or 5 and it'd still not have the scripting features so you guys should work out a deal so you can make a 95-98% accuracy, same for soundfont preferably but it shouldn't be without batch conversion for real (wassup with that?)
How about bringing the Alt-section switching back?
Still self-debating about grouping grouped tracks; I could live without it. I think it could more of a pita than useful....???

Re: Ableton Live 10
I still slip sometimes.
Some Arrangement Api control would be nice too...
you've already got the cursor navigation for keyboard keys; you'd think you could do it with a controller. I don't even think you'd have to add much....split clips at least, but really the same as you can do with keyboard and mouse would be expected.
And not being able to fire whatever selected in the browser? C'maaan

Re: Ableton Live 10
With the M4L access to the Live Api, you don't have a function to actually load up whatever is selected in the browser. You can move around in it...
It's like sayin' 'Sure, access whatevs! We taking the doorknob tho'

Sorry to be so dense. But do you mean some of the stuff where you have to click on it again to get it to audition?
