Midi message to change Live Set

I would like to close and open new live set by sending a midi message with my footcontroller.

I have been searching all over the internet for the past four hours researching different methods of accomplishing this.

I now have an Automator app that will prepare my computer for Live performance which is great.

I have automator workflow that can open different live sets.

How do I convert a midi message (preferably note) to trigger the automator app/workflow?

Would it be easier not to use automator/applescripts and instead use some type of max for live patch, that would open a new live set, and have that in each live set during my live performance?
