Post by crazynuts » Thu Mar 06, 2014 2:47 pm

Hi..

I was wondering your opinion about what you can suggest me about what laptop to buy for work with Live?
I have worked with Live 9, Max For Live 6.1.
I have RME Multiface I Audio Card
And I ask for opinion what to buy for best performance and stability working with Live 9.

I would like to work with Windows 7 system.

Thanks,
Matej

with the multiface you face the expresscard-problem.
the expresscard-slots are rare in i7 16GB ram notebooks.
if you find one under 1k € tell me... thx

forget about use delock-adapters (expressslot-> usb)
rme denied the functionality...

with an apple you can get http://store1.sonnettech.com/
a thunderbolt-adapter for ... ONLY! 169$ lol....

better think about new RME-Card or invest the money in a new laptop with old old expresscard-slot.

Latest model of refurbished MacBook pro 17 you can get (mine is Feb 2011 which has an expresscard/34 slot and is actually a really good PC laptop for audio apps as well with bootcamp+windows 7/64), otherwise that sonnet adapter.

No idea what PC laptops support this these days.
Nothing to see here - move along!

Till now I worked with Lenovo T500 (both pcmcia versions slots) for 470 euro. Ram memory was making me some problems, but I think I will change the ram memory and it will be ok.

I asked for advice to see what kind of pcs u guys use with still old way of cardbus connections and live 9.

I say thank you for ur useful advices guys, which I will use when I buy new laptop.

Greetings, Matej
