Live crashing with Gliderverb and Rob Papen's Amod

Post by biestyboy » Fri Mar 28, 2014 10:20 am

Subject says it all really. If I have both these plugins on the same track then Live crashes, even in a new set with just one track. I've logged calls with Amazing Noises and Ableton but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.

Update. We tried this on a friends system who runs Windows 7 32 bit and Live 9 and his crashed as well under the same circumstances.

Is that the latest beta version?

Cool. Hopefully fixed with the next version then. I've a few M4L devices that are buggy just now so think I'll wait for 9.1.2 before reporting any further faults. Thanks for letting me know.

Hmm. I can definitely get it to crash on two separate systems so I'm pretty sure the problem isn't unique to me. I replicated the problem by starting with a new blank project, one MIDI track only, add an instance of Gliderverb then AMod to the MIDI track then save the project. Open a new project (or close and reopen Live) then try to open the saved project and Live crashes. Is that what you did? Also, do you have the latest (6.1.6 I think) of Max?

If you're using the same version of Max then I wonder if its a sound card driver issue then. Both my friend and I use Focusrite Scarlett devices.

You might be onto something. Is there anyway to try using sofferent audio like your onboard audio?

Maybe with the MME/DX option there might be something else available besides Scarlet.

I tried using the MME/DX drivers for my laptop's inbuilt soundcard but still crashing. I'm stumped so hopefully Ableton's support can come up with something. Do you have any custom preferences or templates that you use? I've pretty much reset to default my Ableton and M4L config as part of the troubleshooting process for this fault.

Yes both my preferences and template are custom so I would imagine I'd have just as much. Chance of crashing as you if those were the issue.

When i was troubleshooting max crashing in an unrelated way, cycling74 had me download a debug program for windows that monitors what goes on between programs and the os to find out what causes the crash.
You should contact c74 support and ask how to use that debug program and then send the results to ableton, c74 and papen. Maybe between the 3 of them there's a solution.
