Can anyone explaining how MIDI MAPPING in Ableton is saved?

If I make a default preset, will the midi settings in that preset be saved for the specific controller/midi signals? Will I have to make them everytime?

What about macro mapping on various effects? Is it saved in the project only or the default? The saved instrument?

I D K!!!

MIDI (controller assignments) are saved with the project.

Think of a "default template" (that is one you choose to be loaded as a default in tyhe Live Prefs) as just a project that is loaded every time you start a new project. All controller assignments you made in that project will be restored when you start a new project. Handy if you need to map MIDI controls to things like Metrenome on a keyboard and always have it as such.

This is the same with Macro assignments. A macro will be saved to whatever you linked it to and any MIDI assignments you mapped to the macro will also be saved with the project. As long as your controllers don't change CC or channels you will instantly have the controls mapped when you next open your project.

Thank you! I want my MPK61 knobs and faders to triggers effects instead of track controls seeing as if I also have an APC40 and Push.
