9.1.2 Update - Visual Changes

Post by PantsDown » Wed Apr 09, 2014 8:04 pm

Is it just me or have Ableton managed to make live look even shitter?

I love the program, I do... but come on... I have a macbook retina and now with 9.1.2 and the inverse text colour it now looks even worse?

Anyone else agree or is it just me?

I have a PC without retina and have live on a 42" screen and a 24" screen at 1080 and it looks great, clear and sharp. I think it's just retina displays make anything look shit if it wasn't designed for retina displays.

I don't think it's bad in 9.1.2, but I also think it could be better. My simple solution: I will not use a lot of clip colours in the future  . I find the red with white text really irritating for example. But that was also the case before. I never used black with black text in the past for example.

The only thing which really bothers me is that automatic clips colours do not work for me, since I get a lot of unwanted clip colour that way. Another minor annoyance is that I have to select colours more carefully to avoid certain clip colours.

in a nut shell: nothing has changed

agree... I know it makes no difference to music production what so ever but when some apps look visually stunning on the Mac its a shame when you open your main bread and butter, life or death, go to app... and it looks rubbish :)

A simple right click on a clip with an 'invert text colors' command seems like it would have been a better solution. Or maybe a separate color selection for text, exactly how we choose clip color. This was a good attempt but, like said, it still leads to avoiding colors..which limits its use overall. Ableton has just shifted the problem from here to right over there. :|
