PC's crashing will always be a problem - Why? Because I bet most of you are using a PC for music but also use it for general browsing, email, photo manipulation, video, spreadsheets, word processing games and porn!

You are bound to have problems - only if you have a nice dedicated music PC.

Yeah no. Adobe software isn't bug-free. At least in my experience, Premiere crashes way too often, and Photoshop seems to have a memory leak issue that I can't pin down. Microsoft Office? Haha, enjoy that big bloated fucker. And Adobe and Microsoft are huge.

I'm in IT for a software company, and the reality is no software is perfect. Some are just less buggy than others.

I personally wouldn't ever deem a crash normal. This is why I never update a well running program or install a new plugin or accessory just for the sake of it. (Still running Live 8. Without Max.) My interest is to get my project done, not to delay it more by adding potential sources of malfunction.

This being stated, I don't think there is no such thing as a "dedicated music PC"; not long term. Sure, my PC started out that way. But then I had to read Ableton's manual, so there came Adobe Acrobat. Next, I had to cut around a screen shot of a MIDI editing program error; hello Photoshop. Upload that jpeg to my server so the software co. can look at it for troubleshooting: hello FTP software. And on. Doing only things related to my music, 2 years later, my "dedicated music PC" could as well be an editing workstation of the NY Times. Or MTV. Or Techdirt.

Not agreeing. I use this for everything and things are generally fine. I've never had a problem sharing my music computer with doing all the other everyday stuff I do. However, I don't do porn, so maybe you're onto something there.
