Mixing in Ableton, where can I find tracks?

Post by apalomba » Tue May 31, 2005 4:46 pm

I am new to mixing in Live, I have no vinyl. I could go to a record
shop and buy the vinyl, then get a turntable and record the songs
on computer. That would be a lot of work. I am looking for a place
that sells songs in digital format that have all tracks (i.e. vocals, bass,
leads, etc...) that I can then mix. Does anyone know of a place that
sells these things?

do you mean can you buy tunes with all the parts seperated.if so i doubt it.a few bands have released tracks with umix(i think)where you can remix within the provided sequencer.the killers somebody told me had this on the release i got in the u.k.sites like acid planet run remix competition's where you can download the parts they provide and do your remix add your own sounds.good luck.

Try WWW.Beatport.com They sell digital songs for about $1.00 each. I am sure if you do a web search you would find plenty more sites. Or you could rip Cd tracks to Wav. or Mp3 with almost all ripping software. I use I-tunes which you could get for free for all my ripping needs.
good luck.

I think Moby's single "Lift Me Up" had some remix software on it. Shouldn't be too hard to strip out the samples for use in Live. William Orbit also offers a couple of his tracks for remixing in Live from his website.

Interestingly my sources suggest that a uk breaks label called Functional Breaks may soon be releasing their first cd which will also come with the parts as ableton-ready loops. Does someone who knows more about it want to comment?
